Convergence Emergence
Announcing the Convergence Emergence!
Following Helmina’s great Trunk Show and Convergence Quilt Demo at the May 29 Quilters’ Coffee Break, we sensed a lot of interest from Guild members in making them. In discussing this with Ricky Tims himself, he suggested we round up photos of all of the Convergence quilts made by our guild and send them on to him so he could enjoy the products of his designs, and, possibly post them on his personal website. Well, Yes! We think that would be a great idea, plus it seemed like a fun idea to have a challenge as part of the Quilters’ Coffee Breaks, so here we are, announcing a Convergence Quilt Virtual Challenge to our members. We’re calling it the “Convergence Emergence”.
Instructions:
- Create a Ricky Tims Convergence quilt using any of the methods in his book, “Ricky Tims Convergence Quilts”. You may purchase the book at www.rickytims.com online store.
- There is no size limit. You may make your quilt big or small.
- Quilts may be submitted as completed pieced tops, or, as finished quilted tops. Submit photos by July 6. We will have a special presentation of the quilts during the July 10 Quilter’s Coffee Break.
- To submit a quilt, please take a well lit, carefully cropped true color photo of your quilt. Be sure that the quilt is hanging or lying flat and that you can see the whole quilt in the photo. If you can, it would be great if you could also include a photo of yourself holding your quilt, so we can see people with their projects.
- If you need help taking a photograph, talk to Ranell or Bonnie.
- Email your photo to Ranell Hansen at llenar.nesnah@gmail.com as an attachment.
- Please label your photo Convergence/(Your last name) like this: Convergence/Hansen and use that format in the subject of your email as well.
- After our July 10 Quilter’s Coffee Break your photos will be sent to Ricky Tims for possible publication.
Let’s get excited about the possibility of our own 15 minutes of fame.
