Is spring your favorite season? It begins on March
20th this year and it will still be spring when we have
our Challenge meeting in June. When I think about spring
I see gardens full of pastels -- yellows (forsythia and
daffodil), purples (hyacinths, violets and lilacs), pinks
(dogwoods, magnolias and tulips) and lighter greens. What
strikes you when you close your eyes and name the season?
Landscapes? Holidays? Vacations? Or . . .?
Award-winning "The Four Seasons"
entries require the following:
- Use the phrase "The Four Seasons" as your
inspiration and take off from there.
- Your creation must be a quilt: two layers of cloth enclosing
a third layer, held together by a stiched design. Embellish
it any way you like.
- You must include at least three different colors in
your piece, using multiple lights and darks so that there
will be at least seven variations of those colors in the
final project. If you want to add more colors, that's
fine.
- Your quilt may be as small as you wish. It should not
exceed 72 inches along any one side, and its total outside
measurement must be 144 inches or less. The finished piece
may be any shape.
- Submit only one entry per person or group.
- Label your quilt. Include your name, the name of the
quilt (if you give it one), and perhaps something about
your inspiration and/or the techniques you used.
- Attach a four-inch hanging sleeve.

We will ALL be basking in the spotlight, cast in either
starring or supporting roles of the Guild's 2007 quilt
challenge,
"Lights! Camera! Action!" a
celebration of how films have influenced our lives, whether
bringing to life historic people and events, animating our
literary imaginations, whisking us away to explore the lure
and mystique of exotic locales, evoking our emotions or simply
reflecting our human condition.
Award-winning "Final Take" entries require the following:
- "Standard Format Only" - Three layers, quilted
(no
"costumes" or "props" please!).
- "Maximun Run time" - 120 inches in circumference (Example:
30" x 30" = 120")
- "Independent Film" - Only one entry per "producer"
- "Film Credits" - A label with the quilt title and your
name (Extended credits welcome)
- "Supporting Cast" - A 4-inch hanging sleeve
- BE CREATIVE and HAVE FUN!

Challenge 2006
“HOW DID TECHNOLOGY SNEAK
INTO
YOUR SEWING ROOM?"
This year's challenge theme, "How did technology sneak into my sewing room?" offers so many possibilities for interesting and amusing quilts. Technology has undoubetly changed the way each one of us creates quilts.
Has fusing taken over your quilts?
Do fancy new metallic threads add sparkle to your life?
How about that super-duper steam iron that keeps your seams oh-so-flat?
There were 21 entries submitted to this competition.
The challenge quilts were displayed at the September 14th guild meeting and again at our Harvest of Colors quilt show September 30th and October 1st, 2006.
Does anyone have photographs to send
to the Webmaster?

Challenge 2005
Music!
The
theme of this year's challenge is MUSIC! You may interpret
this theme anyway you chose as long as your piece meets
the classic definition of a quilt (three layers held together
with hand or machine stitching.) Members may submit one
quilt, no larger than 120" in circumference. Guild
members and their guests will vote for their favorites at
our October 13th meeting.
Challenge 2004
Get Elemental!
The September 2004 guild meeting showcased our Challenge
Quilts. Guild members, their families, and friends enjoyed
seeing 50 imaginative interpretations of the Earth, Water,
Wind and Fire theme. The following quilts were awarded prizes.
